How we sort it all

We ask resources to identify which accommodations, practices, and policies apply to them by checking off items within the following categories. This helps people understand the kinds of information we’re collecting and how a resource describes its own accessibility, conduct, and approach to working with students and customers.

Respect & Communication

Resources can check off whether they:

  • Use a student’s stated name and pronouns during instruction

  • Address and correct disrespectful behavior from staff or other customers

  • Keep political or ideological commentary unrelated to training out of instruction

  • Provide services and instruction without discrimination based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or political affiliation

Physical Accessibility

Resources can check off whether they offer:

  • A wheelchair-accessible entrance and training areas

  • Alternative access or reasonable accommodations for mobility limitations

  • Modified drills for students with physical disabilities or injuries

Learning & Sensory Needs

Resources can check off whether they offer:

  • Modified instruction for learning disabilities or neurodivergent students

  • Smaller class sizes or one-on-one instruction when needed

  • Advance access to written materials, outlines, or course expectations

  • Adjustments for sensory sensitivities such as noise, crowding, or pace

Gender, Trauma & Safety

Resources can check off whether they offer:

  • Accommodation for gender-specific gear, equipment, or fit concerns

  • Trauma-informed instruction when requested, including clear consent before physical corrections and modified drills

  • A clear process for students to raise safety or comfort concerns privately

Religious & Cultural Needs

Resources can check off whether they offer:

  • Reasonable accommodations for religious dress or observance when safety allows

  • Flexible scheduling for religious or cultural needs when possible

Economic Accessibility

Resources can check off whether they offer:

  • Sliding-scale pricing, scholarships, or discounted training opportunities

  • Payment plans or community-rate options

Safety & Conduct

Resources can check off whether they have:

  • A code of conduct for staff and students

  • A clear policy for handling harassment, intimidation, or unsafe behavior

  • An identified point of contact for reporting concerns

Transparency & Expectations

Resources can check off whether they are:

  • Willing to discuss limitations or constraints openly with students in advance

We label a resource with one or more of these labels if they check ANY of the boxes in the category. These categories are voluntary and self-reported based on what each resource says it offers, so they should be treated as a helpful starting point rather than a guarantee. If someone has specific needs, concerns, or dealbreakers, they should always follow up directly with the resource to make sure it’s actually a good fit.
